NEW BRITAIN – The New Britain Parks, Recreation & Community Service Department is still accepting submissions for its annual Holiday House Decorating Contest.

Stephanie Scalise from the Parks & Recreation Department said the event has been running for 21 years. More than 15 people submitted entries for the contest last year, and the department is always looking for more participants. Last year’s contest winner was a resident with a festive display on Cedarwood Drive.

Prizes this year include a skybox tickets to a New Britain Bees game and a pass for four to Stanley Golf Course. Winner of the contest will have their choice of prize, and second place will receive the other prize.

“It’s a wonderful holiday event that helps get people in the spirit,” Scalise said.

If you think you have New Britain’s best holiday house display, post a picture to the Parks & Recreation Facebook page at www.facebook.com/nbparksnrec or call the Parks and Recreation Office at 860-826-3360. All entries must be submitted by Thursday, Dec. 15. The winner will be announced the week of Dec. 18.

Judges for this year’s contest will be children from the department’s after school program.
