Carnival Ball coming to Polish National Home Jan. 21

HARTFORD – The Polish National Home will host its annual “Carnival Ball Around the World” on Saturday, Jan. 21, with a cabaret featuring music and dancing from many nations and cultures.

Participants should come dressed in their best outfits and carnival masks.

Tickets are $45 per person, which includes a buffet dinner, served with white or red wine or beer, and a performance by “Theatre of Imagination Novum” (Teatr Wyobraźni Novum), featuring a humorous play, beautiful costumes and traditional songs.

Theatre of Imagination Novum is a group of artists and entertainers who provide a wide variety of entertainment for the local Polish community.

The dinner menu will include tossed salad with house made vinaigrette, Polish rye bread and butter, boiled dill potatoes, pierogi with onion and bacon, bigos, Polish kielbasa, and chicken with mushroom sauce, with a choice of white or red wine or beer. Dessert will be cheesecake, brownies, coffee, and tea.

PNH is at 60 Charter Oak Ave., Pulaski Plaza, Hartford. There is plenty of free parking on site as well as ample free street parking nearby.

It was built 85 years ago to be a center for Polish-American culture and community, housed in an Art Deco building. The main dining room and bar accommodate up to 175 people. The grand ballroom accommodates up to 250 people and has a balcony that can be used for special shows and events.

The nonprofit social club is especially known for its authentic Polish food, but also features American and other international dishes.

Hours of operation are now Wednesdays, 11:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.; Thursdays through Saturdays, 11:30 a.m. to 9 p.m.; and Sundays, 11 a.m .to 5 p.m. Mondays and Tuesdays the restaurant is closed for private functions.
