Open mic gets Philosoph-ical

NEW BRITAIN - The Artists’ Cooperative will host its monthly Open Mic Night on Thursday.

The program begins at 6 p.m. at the Downtown District Visitors Center, 66 W. Main St. This month’s host will be local musician Philosophee, with returning DJ Maciah MDotLive Clark.

Open Mic Night is held on the third Thursday of each month. The event is free and open to the public.

Instrumentalists, singers, dancers, storytellers and poets are welcome to perform, regardless of skill level or genre. Those interested in performing are asked to arrive before the 6 p.m. starting time to sign up with the program host. New performers as well as veterans are encouraged to participate.

Performances should be no longer than five minutes and must be appropriate for an audience that may include young children. Musicians are asked to bring their music on flash drive or compact disc.
