Art show brings joy to hospital patients

NEW BRITAIN- The Joy of Art! program at Hospital for Special Care hosted its 14th annual juried art show with an opening reception on Thursday, July 20 where over $1,300 in prizes were awarded.

The Joy of Art! program was created to support HSC’s mission of helping patients to achieve enduring improvements in all aspects of their lives.

Eight prizes totaling $1,350 were awarded this year: Greta Nystrom received the President’s Award; Andrzej Grzybowski received the Chairman’s Award; Lori Anderson received the HSC Award; Sean Dudley received the Judith Weld Brown Award, and Sara Brown was awarded the Joy of Art! Award.

The Joy of Art! program offers multiple in-house art exhibitions affording patients, family members, visitors, staff and members of the community the opportunity to enjoy beautiful artwork gracing the walls of the hospital, as well as fundraising through commission proceeds of sold exhibition artwork.

The program will run until Sept. 28.
