NEW BRITAIN - People can express creativity and share talents Thursday at the New Britain Artists Cooperative’s open mic night.

Ebony Shyntel of Meriden will host the event - held the third Thursday of each month - beginning at 6 p.m. at 66 W. Main St.

Shyntel lives up to her motto, “We can all do it all,” by being a singer, songwriter, poet, entrepreneur, chef and avid lover of dance.

Born in New Haven and raised in Wallingford, Shyntel has used singing as an outlet for her to find a place in the world.

Under the penname Damita Pinderhughes, she is writing her first book, “Eggrolls.” - which will not be a cookbook but a collection of mature poems and short stories. Release is set for later in the year.

As a mother of three, she wants to set an example for her children by showing them that they should live out their purpose and life life to the fullest, because you only get one.

The free community event is open to performers and spectators of all ages. Instrumentalists, singers, dancers, storytellers, poets and more are all welcome to participate.
