South Church music schedule announced

NEW BRITAIN - The Music Series at South Church has announced the lineup for its 45th season.

The 2017-18 schedule includes everything from carols and anthems for the holiday season to chamber music to a men’s choir.

Under the direction of Interim Music Director Kari Miller, the South Church Chancel Choir presents the Lessons & Carols Festival on Sunday, Dec. 17, at 4 p.m.

The South Church Chamber Society, with pianist David Westfall, violinist Peter Winograd and cellist Wolfram Koessel, will perform Beethoven’s Piano Trio No. 7 in B Flat Major and Ravel’s Piano Trio in A Minor on Sunday, April 22, at 4 p.m.

On Wednesday, May 2, at 7:30 p.m. Chanticleer will sing the works of Poulenc, Palestrina, di Lasso, Weelkes and Morley, as well as traditional American spirituals and hymns.

Also Pulitzer Prize winner John Harbison’s will perform Psalm 116, his first composition for Chanticleer.

All concerts are free and open to the public, but donations are suggested except for the Chanticleer concert, for which tickets can be bought at musicseries.org for $30 premium, $20 general and $10 senior/student.
