NEW BRITAIN-A meet and greet reception for Gallery 66’s “Car Show Side Show” photography exhibition and contest will be held on Oct. 11 from 5-7 p.m.

The New Britain Downtown District and New Britain Art Coalition organized the contest to recognize and celebrate cars of the past and present.

During the reception four photographers will be awarded for their submissions to the photography contest. Contest winners will receive $100, $75 and $50 from New Britain’s Downtown District.

Each artist presented varied photos of their interpretations to the subject of cars.

Carlos A. Avila’s collection “Where to Next” explores the symbiotic relationship between vehicles and the spaces they explore, whether to the driver’s daily commute or spontaneous road trips.

On the other hand, Peter Ceglarz’s photos shows off his 1999 Ford Mustang SVT Cobra. He built and customized the vehicle he adores by himself in-house and at his shop in New Britain, Ceglarz Motors, Inc.

Others that will show of their work include East Hartford audiovisual artist Chad Browne-Springer and West Hartford Photographer Elizabeth McVerry Hanlon.

The exhibition is now on display at Gallery 66 until Nov. 10.
