NEW BRITAIN - Celebrate Guitar Day at Central Connecticut State University on Saturday, Oct. 14.
The Connecticut Guitar Society is hosting an all-day guitar extravaganza, featuring workshops and concerts, and all events are open to the public.
Finger-style guitarist Glenn Roth, a licensed performer in the MTA’s “Music under New York” program, will lead special instruction. Roth has released five albums and devotes his performances to his original work as well as covers of hit songs such as “Bohemian Rhapsody” by Queen.
Paul Neri and Nathan Richardson will also be on hand to share their expertise on the lute.
Other workshop leaders include Mexican guitarist Keyla Mejia; Eric Elias, a columnist for Just Jazz Guitar magazine; and Connecticut Guitar Society member Rich Goldstein.
A performance by the Connecticut Guitar Society Ensemble is also scheduled.
The event starts at 9 a.m. at CCSU’s Elihu Burritt Library, 1615 Stanley St.
General admission tickets are $45, CGS members $40, and $20 for students. Guests must register in advance by calling 860-249-1132 or emailing email@example.com.
