NEW BRITAIN - The New Britain High School Parent Music Association’s fourth annual gala is less than two weeks away, and tickets are now available.

The event benefits the NBHS Music Department.

The gala will take place from 6:30 p.m. to 11 p.m. on Saturday, March 3, at VFW Post 511 Hall, 41 Veterans Drive.

This year, the association is raising money to buy custom costumes for the Madrigal Singers, support the Golden Hurricane Marching Band, refurbish instruments and underwrite scholarships for graduating seniors.

Last year, the PMA raised more than $19,000 for the band. Thanks to the PMA’s fundraising efforts, the marching band got a full set of new uniforms.

“In the past three years, the PMA has raised funds to purchase 100 new uniforms for the NBHS Golden Hurricane Marching Band,” said PMA President Vincent Celentano. “As the Madrigal Singers just celebrated their 40th Madrigal Feaste, it is a perfect time to support their continued success while still assisting the Marching Band. Many of the Madrigal costumes are 20 years old and beyond repair. Our singers perform throughout the community and we want to keep them looking good.”

The event, for people 21 and older, will include a full-course buffet dinner of Italian nouveau cuisine along with an open bar featuring wine and locally brewed Alvarium beer. Music will be provided by DJ Joey Bags. A variety of prizes donated by area merchants will be raffled off.

“We hope that the community, especially Madrigal and Band alumni, will come out to support the event and our music programs,” said Beth Mazadoorian, recording secretary of the PMA. “We are so fortunate to have such a rich musical tradition in New Britain and we want to make sure that continues for years to come. The event always proves to be a fun night.”

Tickets are $35 per person in advance or $40 per person at the door. Tickets may be bought by phone at 860-989- 2159, by email at pmvtmandrake@mac.com, in the main office of New Britain High School or online at www.brownpapertickets.com by searching NBHS.

For those who cannot attend but wish to donate, checks can be made payable to the NBHS PMA and mailed to New Britain High School, 110 Mill St., New Britain, CT 06051.
