NEW BRITAIN - Papa’s Jeep Ram is hosting its seventh annual Charity Sock Hop Saturday to benefit Special Olympics Connecticut.

The dealership will host the event from 6 to 10 p.m.

According to the dealership, the sock hop was started in 2011 to help raise money and awareness for Special Olympics Connecticut.

Car enthusiasts, Special Olympians and their friends and families are all welcome as Papa’s Jeep Ram will transform its showroom into a 1950s style dance party featuring the music of The Sharades.

Guests will enjoy an evening of music, dancing, food and raffles, as well as contests to name the best dressed and best dancers.

Anyone with a classic car is urged to bring it, as Papa’s will provide parking.

Domenic Papa, the second- generation president of Papa’s, said he looks forward to the sock hop every year.

“Our annual sock hop is one of the highlights of our charitable programs. It’s fun for everyone, and to see the looks on these kids’ faces makes it all worth the time and effort it takes to put this event together every year. The sock hop sells out every year so we urge you to get your tickets early,” Papa said.

Tickets are $20 for adults and $10 for children 5 and over.

They can be purchased in advance by calling 860-225-8751. A limited number will be available at the door.

Papa’s Jeep Ram is at 585 E. Main St.
