NEW BRITAIN - The fifth annual New Britain Rose Garden Festival is just two weeks away, and tickets are available.
The festival, presented by Stanley Black & Decker, will take place from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. on Saturday, June 16, at the Rose Garden in Walnut Hill Park.
Festivalgoers can dine, drink and dancing among 1,000 multi-colored roses, in full bloom..
“The Rose Garden Festival is a great opportunity to spend a unique summer evening in one of our city’s most picturesque settings. Amid the Rose Garden, there will be music, dancing, drinks and food from a variety of local restaurants to enjoy in the company of friends,” said Mayor Erin Stewart.
The event will start with a happy hour from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. Following the happy hour will be live music.
LaTanya Farrell will get the dancing started and Soul Sound Revue will rock the stage for the rest of the evening.
Many local restaurants are coming to the festival. Restaurants already committed to the event to date are: Great Taste, Back Nine Tavern, Max Pizza II, Staropolska, Mofongo, and KC’s on Main, all from New Britain. Back Nine Tavern, Stanley Golf Course’s new food and beverage provider, will also be providing full bar service for the event.
According to city officials, the rose garden atop the park near the World War I Monument is the largest volunteer-maintained rose garden in the state, thanks to the efforts of Kate McCue, Michelle Malinowski, and the Friends of Walnut Hill Rose Garden.
Tickets are available at the Parks and Recreation Department and Greater New Britain Chamber of Commerce. For more information or to buy tickets, call the Parks and Recreation Department hotline at 860-826-3360.
