NEW BRITAIN - “Mary Poppins Jr.,” a kid-friendly version of the classic musical, will be sweeping its way into the city tonight.

Sponsored by YWCA New Britain, the show will be staged at Trinity-on-Main downtown today at 7 p.m. and Saturday at 2 p.m. Performances run about two hours.

“It’s a junior version of the show,” YWCA Performing Arts Director Christina Kuzia said. “It’s more tailored for younger children to attend, probably 5 and up.

Tickets are $10 in advance or $15 at the door and can be bought online at ywcanb.org.

All money from ticket sales will go to support the YWCA, according to Kuzia.

“We’ll have a bake sale in the lobby, water will be sold and Stargrams will be available for children to send to their favorite cast member,” Kuzia said.

So far, over 209 tickets have been sold, with about 50 remaining as of Thursday afternoon.

Parking will be available in the street or in the Chestnut Street Garage.
