NEW BRITAIN – Gallery 66 is looking for an “outsider artist” to showcase their painting, photography prints and drawings in an exhibit debuting July 30.

By definition, an outsider artist is self-taught or naïve in the making of art.

Typically those labeled as outsider artists have little or no contact with the mainstream art world or art institutions. In many cases, their work is previously undiscovered.

Gallery 66 is asking outsider artists to email a submission of proposed work to be displayed – one to five digital images. Images should be presented in JPEG format. All exhibited artwork must be no smaller than 11” x 14” and no larger than 18” x 24”. Artists should also submit a short biography, 100 words or less, and a photo of themselves.

Artwork should not have any vulgar images and/or language as determine by Gallery 66 staff.

Email submissions are due by 11:59 p.m. on July 18. Selected artists will have to drop off chosen by 4 p.m. on July 25. All images of artwork should be emailed to Adrian Elliot at

Galley 66 is accepting painting, photography prints and drawings, excluding 3D drawings. Sales and commissions of artwork will be discussed on an individual basis.

Artists will know if their work was selected via email on July 20.

The exhibit runs from July 30 to Sept. 7. A reception will be held at Gallery 66 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Aug. 1

Gallery 66 is located at 66 West Main St. Contact Adrian Elliot at 860-881-7801 with questions.
