NEW BRITAIN - Poets, comedians, singers and other artists will perform at the second annual Free for All community concert on Saturday from 6 to 9 p.m. at the Trinity-on-Main Performing Arts Center.
The artists have all hosted Open Mic every third Thursday throughout the year. They hail from New Britain, Bridgeport, New Haven and other cities.
“I’m hopeful that the community rushes over to Trinity-on-Main at 6 o’clock on Saturday to witness what I know will be an extraordinary concert,” Adrian Elliott, the producer of the show, said.
Tre Brown, of New Britain, is a poet. Brown hosted his Open Mic in November 2017. He said he felt joyful when he was invited to perform on Saturday.
“It’s a dream come true,” Brown said. “I went home and I cried and told my mom and my father that I was performing. The fact that I have family and friends that live in New Britain that are coming to watch me it’s unbelievable.”
Another performer is Karen “Kae” Price, of Springfield. Price is a singer and song-writer who has performed in Connecticut, Massachusetts and New York.
“I’m looking forward to seeing everyone perform and I’m looking forward to performing for everyone, so I’m feeling very thankful and overjoyed,” Price said.
IMPERFECT is going to be one of the vendors at the show. The organization will be selling apparel such as sweatshirts, T-shirts and pins to help spread its message.
“We will be there to motivate, inspire and educate people to love themselves despite their imperfections,” Leslie Gomez, co-founder of IMPERFECT, said.
Ten performers in all are booked for the show, including including Arkatex, a Connecticut duo reuniting on Saturday. They were the first act to host New Britain’s Open Mic.
The concert also will include a fashion show, raffle, cash bar and food.
New Britain’s Open Mic is held every third Thursday of the month at Gallery 66, located at 66 West Main St.
