Irish singer to give concert at New Britain church Sunday

NEW BRITAIN -First Church of Christ Congregational will be hosting a concert by Emmet Cahill on Sunday, March 10, at 7:30 p.m.

Cahill is lead singer for the group Celtic Thunder. At Sunday’s concert at 830 Corbin Ave., Cahill will perform traditional Irish music and other pieces. The event will start with a meet-and-greet of the artist at 5:45 p.m. followed by the concert at 7:30 p.m.

Cahill’s debut solo album is on the Billboard world music chart. “Emmet Cahill’s Ireland” incorporates Irish classics and folk tunes, with Cahill and the National Symphony Orchestra of Ireland. The album was released in 2017.

Cahill, 28, is originally from Mullingar, County Westmeath, Ireland. He started to practice piano at age 5 and started vocal training at 7. He attended the Royal Irish Academy of Music and made his debut at Carnegie Hall, in New York, last year.

Cahill has performed as a soloist in various venues including Croke Park, Dublin at the Gaiety Theater, the National Concert Hall, churches, festivals, and made a church concert tour in 12 cities across the United States in December 2018.

General admission tickets for the concert are $30 for adults and $10 for students with college identification cards. Tickets for the meet-and-greet along with the concert cost $45.
