BERLIN - Noted sports journalist, Mike Shalin, will discuss baseball, the Red Sox and his latest book at the Berlin-Peck Memorial Library today at 6:30 p.m.

“The Hometown Team: Four Decades of Boston Red Sox Photography,” was published last year, and features Fenway Park’s most memorable characters from the past 40 years, with behind-the-scenes images of the ballpark during that time as well.

Shalin has been in the business for more than 40 years, covering all four major sports for United Press International, the New York Post, the Boston Herald and Sports XChange.

He has been a Baseball Hall of Fame voter since 1989 and an official scorer at Fenway Park since 2003.

In addition to his latest, Shalin has written numerous other books, including a biography of New York Yankees star Don Mattingly.

Shalin said that he looks forward to talking to the people of Berlin and answering any questions that might be tossed his way.

Books will be available for purchase and signing at the event.

For more information, or to register, call the library at 860-828-7126 or visit berlinpeck.org.
