BERLIN - The steering committee of Lumaj Explore is inviting people to attend a fundraiser in support of Pete Lumaj, an exploratory candidate for statewide office.

Hosted by Charles and Lecia Paonessa, the event will take place this Sunday, from 3 to 5 p.m. at the Spartans Veterans Athletic Club, 191 High Road, Kensington. Hors d’oeuvres and cocktails will be served.

Lumaj, an Albanian immigrant who, with his three brothers, left behind parents and seven siblings in the communist country, is now a small businessman, practicing attorney and owner of the Law Office of Lumaj.

He graduated cum laude with a BA in Political Science from City University of New York, after learning English in the state and working as a porter and doorman to support his family and pay for his education.

While enrolled at the Benjamin Cardozo School of Law of Yeshiva University in New York City, he worked as a fraud investigator in the administration of Mayor Rudolph Giuliani.

Checks should made payable to “Lumaj Explore.” Donations can be made in advance at peterlumaj.com.

RSVP to Cassandra Dudzinski at Cassandra@peterlumaj.com or 860-967-4937 is requested.
