BERLIN - Innovative Fitness & Wellness held its official ribbon-cutting ceremony Friday morning, celebrating almost two months in its new home on Farmington Avenue.

William Mackie, owner of Innovative Fitness, said that the business used to be in Middletown before relocating to 1176 Farmington Ave.

“Moving to Berlin we’ve got a lot more visibility obviously being on Farmington Avenue here and we’re very happy about it,” Mackie said.

Mackie said Innovative Fitness specializes in personal training but also offers fitness and nutrition classes. It is also collaborating with the Berlin YMCA on programs and use of equipment.

“The YMCA is very excited to be a part of this,” said Amy Fitzgerald, program director for the Berlin .

Chris Edge, Berlin’s economic development director, said the location has been in transition and he’s glad to have Innovative Fitness in town.

“It is one of the most beautiful buildings on Farmington Avenue,” Edge said.

Mayor Mark Kaczynski shared a similar sentiment, saying that it’s important for the city to keep businesses on Farmington Avenue.

“We’re glad you guys are here,” Kaczynski said.
