Programs on comics, Russia coming to Berlin library

BERLIN - The Berlin-Peck Memorial Library, at 234 Kensington Road, will host the following events in November.

The Charlton Comics event is set for Wednesday, Nov. 1, at 6:30 p.m.

“Charlton Comics: The Movie” is about a comic book company that was based in Connecticut, featuring legendary artists and writers from the golden and silver age of comics.

The movie’s producer/director, Jackie Zbuska, and producer, Keith Larsen, will spend the evening discussing what Charlton Comics was and why it matters in the annals of comic book history.

They’ll also be discussing the production of the film and showing some clips and footage from the upcoming documentary feature.

“A Conversation on Russia” will be on Saturday, Nov. 4, at 1 p.m.

The United Nations Association of Connecticut will hold this presentation to explore current global geopolitical issues and concerns within the broader context of the United Nations. Sergei Kambalov, a knowledgeable and widely traveled speaker will explore these complex issues and invite dialogue with those present.

Kambalov, a Russian economist, has served at the United Nations for 21 years and is now an American citizen.
