BERLIN - Over 40 vendors from Berlin and surrounding towns will converge at Griswold Elementary School today from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. as part of the seventh annual Griswold Elementary School’s Holiday Extravaganza, hosted by the Griswold Parents Club.

“I’m so excited,” said Dawn Steimer, co-chair of the event alongside Donna Bois. “This year we have so many more local mom and pop shops.”

On the list of vendors are Cuts of Wood of Berlin with wood products and decorations, Potions LLC of Meriden with bath care products and Amato’s Toy & Hobby of New Britain, among several others.

“We really tried to get as many local and more artist businesses as we could,” said Steimer.

Pizza and free face painting for kids will also be available, Steimer added.

Along with the craft and boutique direct sales is a bake sale with pies, cookies and other homemade goods, and raffle for prizes from the vendors valued at $25. Tickets for the raffle can be purchased in groups of 5 for $3 and 10 for $5.

Admission for the event is $1 and children 12 and under can enter free of charge. Proceeds will go to support Griswold programs and teachers. In years past, Steimer said, proceeds have gone toward a new playground at the school.

“This is something started a few years ago by another member and its grown so much from there,” said Steimer.
