BERLIN - A mother and her baby were taken to an area hospital after the woman’s car and a tow truck collided around 12:30 a.m. Monday.

The accident happened near the intersection of Mill Street, Frontage Road and Worthington Ridge, according to Kensington Fire Chief Jeff Pajor.

The woman received severe injuries and was taken to Hartford Hospital by Hunter’s Ambulance, Pajor said.

The baby, who was strapped into a car seat, was apparently uninjured but was taken to Connecticut Children’s Medical Center in Hartford as a precaution, he added.

The driver of the tow truck, owned by D&L Auto Body & Towing, was uninjured, Pajor said.

Pajor said crews worked for about an hour to secure the scene, before handing it over to accident investigators.

The woman was initially trapped in the vehicle, but by the time Pajor arrived, police and ambulance workers had been able to get the door open, Pajor said.

No other information was available as of Monday evening.
