BERLIN - Andy Thiede of Berlin recently presented her fourth self-funded Human Resources Scholarship to Tiffany Mohammed of Bloomfield.
Thiede is a human resources consultant at KardasLarson. Mohammed, is an acquisition manager at a technology firm in the Hartford area.
“It is an honor to be awarded this scholarship,” said Mohammed of the $500 award. “It plays a part in earning my HR certification, which will be a significant milestone in my career.”
Mohammed was selected by a board of advisers made up of HR professionals, said Thiede.
Among the requirements for application is membership in the Human Resource Association of Central Connecticut.
Mohammed holds an MBA from the University of Hartford after earning her undergraduate degree at Hampton University in Virginia.
Thiede created the scholarship in 2016 to offset the expense of certification for fellow HR professionals, and because of her passion for the field and desire to give back to it.
She said that with the HR industry ever changing, taking the next step and becoming a certified HR professional “strongly benefits” anyone in the field despite the tests one must take every three years.
A cum laude graduate of Central Connecticut State University with a bachelor’s degree in usiness and a minor in human resources, Thiede has been a member of the Human Resource Association of Central Connecticut and Society for Human Resource Management for more than 20 years. She has been director of chapter operations of the HRACC for the past 16 years.
She holds both Senior Professional in Human Resources and Society for Human Resource Management-Certified Professional certifications.
