BERLIN - The fast-moving fire that destroyed a Sun Meadow Drive home early Tuesday has been ruled accidental.

Fire Marshal Stephen Waznia said investigators couldn’t pinpoint the exact cause, but determined that the blaze started on the back wall of the first-floor family room.

The fire was called in at 1:40 a.m. When firefighters arrived, the house was engulfed in flames.

The family of three, including a 5-year-old child, got out safely.

It took more than an hour to get the blaze under control.

The property is being turned back over to its owners, as the investigation is closed, Waznia said.

The family’s insurance company is helping them with lodging, he said.
