Berlin police awards to be presented today

BERLIN - The police department will be holding its awards ceremony today in the auditorium of Eversource Energy, at 107 Selden St.

The ceremony recognizes officers who have gone above and beyond the normal call of duty over the past two years, a release stated.

Officers up for recognition are Lt. Drew Gallupe, Sgt. Mark Soneson, Sgt. John McCormack, Sgt. Shawn Solek, Sgt. Ann-Marie Haas, Detective Sean McMahon, Officer Michael LoCastro. Officer Aimee Krzykowski, Officer Robert Canto, Officer Mark DePinto, Officer Thomas Blake, Officer Brandon Lagueux, Officer James Monthei and information technology specialist Brian Freeman.

The awards they will be receiving with be listed in the program, Deputy Chief Chris Ciuci said.

Two town residents will also be recognized. Jayme Paradise and Candice Peck will receive Life Saving Awards.

Another resident, Louis Rivera, will be presenting an award to officers who saved his life.

The public is invited to attend and help recognize members of the department and civilians, the release stated.
