BERLIN - Grinders are for sale for Saturday’s Memorial Day parade, with proceeds going to be split between the joint organizers, Berlin Upbeat and You Can Love Life Inc.
The cost is $6 each or four grinders for $20, with a choice of ham or turkey with lettuce, tomato and/or American cheese, or a vegetable grinder, with the same toppings plus peppers and cucumbers. Mustard, mayonnaise and a bag of chips are included, according to a flier for the sale sent by Tammy Campanelli of You Can Love Life.
Ingredients were provided by the Hartford Provision Company, of South Windsor, at discounted costs, Campanelli added. Members of You Can Love Life will make the grinders.
Grinder pickup is between 10 a.m. and noon at the VFW, 152 Massirio Drive, where the parade will turn off of Farmington Avenue before ending at Veterans’ Memorial Park. Orders will be taken until the morning of the parade, Campanelli said.
A “Donation Grinder,” to be brought to the New Britain Friendship Center, can be bought for $5.
You Can Love Life is a not-for-profit organization that gives money to cancer patients so they can treat themselves to something uplifting. Campanelli started it after she defeated cancer in 2015.
To order grinders, see Jack Rudy, Berlin Upbeat director, at the high school or call Tom Campanelli at 860-992-2858.
