BERLIN - A New Britain police officer was placed on administrative leave Tuesday after his arrest on domestic violence charges Monday.

Officer Brandon Egan was charged by Berlin police Monday with second-degree unlawful restraint and second-degree breach of peace.

Berlin police did not return a phone call seeking information on the arrest.

Egan was placed on paid administrative leave Tuesday, New Britain Police Chief James Wardwell said.

“We respect the court process and won’t interfere with it,” Wardwell said.
