BERLIN - The Berlin VFW Post 10732 will host a car show this Sunday at the VFW Grounds, 152 Massirio Drive from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Admission to the event will be free but donations will be accepted.

There is a $10 charge for cars entering the show.

Trophies and prizes will be given out for winners in different categories.

Music will be playing and food, such as cheeseburgers and hot dogs, will be for sale.

The event will the first of its kind for the post, said Commander Gary Barwikowski.

He said the car show is a way for the post to fund raise for needed repairs on the bathrooms and roof of VFW’s over 35-year-old home.

Other proceeds the VFW generates from other fundraisers are usually spent on three $1,000 scholarships given to high school students, and other community and charity organization donations.

The show was started by VFW member Louis J. Urso, who is a car enthusiast and has a Chevrolet Nova, Barwikowski said.

A rain date is scheduled for Sunday, Sept. 2.
