BERLIN - Local author F.R. Rivers will be at the Berlin-Peck Memorial Library on Monday, Nov. 4, at 6:30 p.m. for his debut book launch.

The Berlin native will read an excerpt from his book, “The Gathering: The Tavern Where Evil Gathers for a Cold Beer,” and will discuss the motivations behind his storyline and the writing process in general.

The book tells the story of a traveler during a storm wo finds refuge in a Connecticut tavern, where, through interactions with the few patrons and employees he learns “how the mind can hide past sins and that the road to evil can range from a long twisting buildup of rage to one that is unprovoked and soon forgotten.”

Rivers came up with the idea while driving to his own home during a snowstorm.

Books will be available for sale and signing.
