Most area towns had a big number of additional residents testing positive for COVID-19 since Thursday, according to data released by state health officials Friday. New Britain had the biggest jump of all, with 12 additional residents testing positive for conoravirus in a day. The city is now up to 48 positives residents in all, the most in the area.
Bristol had six new residents test positive for COVID-19 since Thursday, and now has 24 overall.
Southington had an increase of five residents testing positive, and has 33 in all.
Newington went up by four residents with positive tests and totals 32 COVID-19 cases.
Berlin had two residents test positive for coronavirus and has 11 overall.
Plainville (11 total) had one new resident test positive, while Plymouth (three overall) did not record a new positive test.
There were 19 additional reported deaths due to COVID-19 in the state, and that overall figure now stands at 131. In Hartford County, there have been 18 deaths, which is an increase of five since Thursday. One New Britain resident and one Newington resident have lost their lives due to coronavirus.
There are 4,914 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in the state, with 909 currently hospitalized. Just over 20,000 state residents have been tested in all.
