New Britain continues to have big increases in residents testing positive for coronavirus, with another 33 added to the confirmed total since Friday and 96 since the beginning of last weekend. The city went over the 1,400 mark in that total Monday, according to data released by state health officials.
New Britain has had 1,402 residents confirmed as having tested positive for coronavirus with another 58 considered probable.
No other area city or town has seen that kind of uptick in coronavirus cases over the past week.
Bristol had an additional five residents confirmed as having tested positive for coronavirus and one more considered probable since Friday. The city has had 686 confirmed and 18 probable cases since reporting began.
Newington had four residents confirmed as having tested positive for coronavirus since the beginning of the weekend for totals that now stand at 432 confirmed and 20 probable.
Southington had five additional residents confirmed as testing positive for the virus Monday. The town has had 386 confirmed and 15 probable cases overall.
Berlin had two more confirmed coronavirus results Monday to move within two of reaching 200 overall. The town has had 198 confirmed and nine probable cases among their residents.
Plainville had three residents confirmed as having tested positive Monday for totals that have reached 185 confirmed and three probable cases.
For the second straight report, Plymouth had an additional resident confirmed as having tested positive for coronavirus. The town has had 79 confirmed and five probable cases in all.
Statewide, there were 48,964 tests reported since Friday with 569 coming back as positive cases. There were five additional virus-associated deaths reported for a total of 4,485. There were also 13 additional patients in state hospitals due to covid-19 then before the weekend. There are 64 total coronavirus patients in all.
