State goes over 7,500 coronavirus-associated deaths; New Britain has nearly 30 new virus cases

The state went over 7,500 coronavirus-associated deaths among residents Friday, according to state health officials. After 27 virus deaths were reported over the past day the state now had 7,523 deaths among residents. There were no deaths to report locally, however.

New Britain has had 184 virus-associated deaths among residents, while Bristol has had 124, Newington 101, Southington 86, Plainville 36, Berlin 29 and Plymouth 7 since reporting began.

There were 46,396 coronavirus cases reported Friday with 1,198 coming back as positive cases, a positivity rate of 2.58%. There was a decrease in residents hospitalized with coronavirus, dropping by 33 to 535.

New Britain had 27 new coronavirus cases among residents Friday for a total of 8,166.

Bristol added 17 new coronavirus cases among its residents over the past day for a total of 4,639.

Southington had eight additional residents that tested positive for the virus for a total of 2,879.

Newington had 11 more coronavirus cases among residents for a total of 2,285.

Berlin added nine new coronavirus cases for a total of 1,292.

Plainville had five more residents that tested positive for the virus for a total of 1,261.

Plymouth added three coronavirus cases among residents for a total of 706.
