New Britain, Newington each have two residents die from coronavirus-associated illness; plus area case updates

Over the past two days, Bristol has had three residents die from coronavirus-associated illness, while New Britain, Newington and Plymouth each had two, according to state health officials. Statewide there were 19 virus deaths reported Thursday for a total that has now reached 7,614.

New Britain has had 186 virus-associated deaths among residents, while Bristol has had 127, Newington 101, Southington 89, Plainville 36, Berlin 29 and Plymouth 9 since reporting began.

There were 46,017 coronavirus cases reported Thursday with 975 coming back as positive cases, a positivity rate of 2.12%. There was a decrease in residents hospitalized with coronavirus, dropping by 10 to 485.

New Britain has had 37 new coronavirus cases over the past two days for a total of 8,275.

Bristol has had 23 new coronavirus cases since Tuesday for a total of 4,726.

Southington added 28 coronavirus cases over past two days for a total of 2,945.

Newington had 20 new coronavirus cases among residents since Tuesday for a total of 2,323.

Berlin had six residents test positive for coronavirus since Tuesday for a total of 1,311.

Plainville also had six new positive coronavirus cases over the past two days for a total of 1,286.

Plymouth had 16 new coronavirus cases among residents for a total of 732.
