New Britain has 8th most coronavirus cases, deaths among residents statewide; Plainville, Berlin, Newington, Southington case updates

New Britain has had the eighth most coronavirus cases and coronavirus-associated deaths among residents in the state, while Bristol has had the 12th most virus cases and 20th most virus-associated deaths, according to state health officials Wednesday.

New Britain has had 201 virus-associated deaths among residents, while Bristol has had 132, Newington 100, Southington 93, Plainville 36, Berlin 29 and Plymouth 9 since reporting began. There were five deaths reported statewide Wednesday increasing the state’s overall total to 7,935.

There were 27,019 coronavirus tests reported Wednesday with 1,038 coming back as positive cases, a positivity rate of 3.84%. There was an increase of nine in state residents hospitalized with the virus for a total of 514. There are 122 residents in Hartford County hospitals, an increase of nine.

New Britain had 14 new coronavirus cases reported Wednesday and has had an overall total of 8,855.

Bristol added nine new coronavirus cases over the past day and has had an overall total of 5,426.

Southington had 23 new virus cases since Tuesday and has had 3,389 cases overall.

Newington had an additional eight cases reported over the past day and has an overall total of 2,581.

Berlin added four new virus cases over the past day and has an overall total of 1,471.

Plainville had three new virus cases reported since Tuesday and has an overall total of 1,451.

Plymouth added three new coronavirus cases over the past day and has an overall total of 867.
