BERLIN – A Preschool Round-Up is set to take place in town at the end of March.

Kids ages 3 up to 4 years-8 months (by March 26) who live in Berlin are eligible to participate. Parents or guardians may make an appointment for this town-wide screening in preparation for their child to enter preschool at the start of the 2022-23 school year.

Sessions will take place at the Berlin Community Center, 230 Kensington Rd. on Friday, March 25 from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. and Saturday, March 26 from 8:30 a.m. to 12 p.m.

Appointments can be scheduled by calling JoAnn or Sue at 860-829-6795 or 860-829-6792 between the hours of 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. Mon.-Fri., from Jan. 18 to March 18. Appointments are available on a first-come, first-served basis.

Children will be screened for language, motor skills and social skills. Parents will be provided with information on their child’s development as well as their strengths and weaknesses.

The Preschool Round-Up also helps Berlin Public Schools identify kids who may be in need of a more advanced evaluation.

All school districts are required to participate in the nationally-mandated program CHILD FIND, which allows for academic interventions at an early age to assist children with physical, mental and/or emotional disabilities that may impair their ability to learn.
