BERLIN – The trees are just beginning to shed their leaves and the town is preparing residents for its annual curbside leaf pickup later this fall.

Berlin Public Works Department announced its 2022 leaf collection schedule, which begins the week of Oct. 31 and ends Dec. 2.

Residents who would like to have their leaves picked up should put them in biodegradable brown paper bags and leave them curbside on their regular trash collection day during one of the following weeks: Oct.31-Nov.4, Nov.14-18 and Nov. 28-Dec. 2.

Leaves bagged in plastic will not be accepted.

Residents are asked not to mix leaves with grass clippings, tree branches or other yard waste.

They may also elect to bring their leaves to the town’s Transfer Station for disposal, at 19 Farm Ln. during regular hours, Mon.-Fri. 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. and Sat. from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.

People who choose to deliver their leaves should empty bags at the drop-off area and remove them before leaving.

The Transfer Station will be closed Thursday and Friday Nov. 24 and 25 in observance of the Thanksgiving holiday.
