Berlin softball eliminated by Joel Barlow in Class L quarterfinals

REDDING - After only surrendering two runs through the first two rounds of the Class L state tournament, the No. 15-ranked Berlin softball team fell to No. 10-seed Joel Barlow by a score of 9-3 on the road on Friday.

The Redcoats scored 24 runs over their first two games of the tournament but could not score enough to advance to the semifinal round. The Falcons entered Friday’s contest having won each of their first two games by just one run.

Joel Barlow now goes on to face defending-champion Fitch. As for Berlin, Friday’s was the final game in the high school careers of Sarah Ciscar, Grace Reimer, Vanessa Reimer, Emily Cooney, Haley Hauptfeld and Jaclyn Arute.
