Sports Roundup: Innovation girls volleyball falls to Holy Cross in Class S tournament

NEW BRITAIN - In its first state quarterfinal round appearance, the Innovation girls volleyball team lost 3-0 (25-18,

25-18, 25-16) to Holy Cross in the Class S tournament on Friday evening.

The Ravens (20-4) were led by Bailee Nardi (10 kills), Aliyah Merced (14 digs) and Imani Rosado (15 assists).

Innovation, in its fourth year as a program, won the CRAL championship on its way into state tournament play.

GIRLS DIVING

Whiteside third in Class S: Berlin’s Alina Whiteside placed third in Thursday night’s Class S state girls diving championships at Bulkeley High School.

Finishing with a score of 383.30 in the meet, Whiteside placed behind only champion Sophia Rapp of Weston (390.05) and Austynn Lacasse of Bolton (384.35).

Also competing for the Redcoats were McKenna Evans, who placed 14th with 260.95 points, and Alexa Lanteri, who placed 14th with 260.95 points, and Alexa Lanteri, who placed 15th with 254.70 points.
