SOUTINGTON - The Southington girls basketball team made sure to pick up its first win of the season in dramatic fashion.
Alli Carr made her first varsity basketball at the buzzer as the Blue Knights beat Hall 43-41 Thursday night.
Southington had forced a turnover to give Carr the ball after teammate Bri Harris hit a 3-pointer from the corner to tie the game with 15 seconds remaining.
Janette Wadolowski scored a game-high 21 points for the Blue Knights and also brought down 14 rebounds.
Olivia Bonee finished with a team-high 15 points for Hall with All-Stater Amber Raisner still recovering from ACL surgery.
Both teams are now 1-1.
Berlin 52, Maloney 27: The Redcoats picked up their first win of the season as they outscored Maloney 52-27. Lizzy Litwinko paved the way for Berlin, scoring the game-high of 14 points. Fellow Redcoat, Ashley Wenzel scored eight while Wynter Yovan scored four.
Angela Perrelli also had a big night, netting in three baskets and three free throws for a total of nine points.
“It was a solid game for the Berlin Redcoats as they get their first win,” Berlin head coach Shelia King said. “Seven players were able to score and they were able to hold Maloney to 27 point.”
