BERLIN - Every player on the roster got involved for the Berlin girls basketball team on Thursday.

It was that night for the Redcoats.

All 12 Berlin players recorded at least two points in the 57-26 rout of Aerospace.

“It was a great senior night honoring Alana Garofalo and DeAna Gibson,” Redcoats head coach Sheila King said. “Everyone contributed which was nice. It was a team effort.”

Garofalo and Gibson each scored four points in the victory, while Angela Perrelli led the team with a game-high 14 pints, including three 3-pointers. Ashley Wenzel contributed seven with Lyzi Litwinko adding five.

KJ Hyatt was Aerospaces leading scorer with 11 points, a testament to Berlin’s defense which held the Jets to single digits in every quarter.

The Redcoats are now 9-7 on the season.

Whitney Tech 40, Goodwin Tech 39: Despite getting a game-high 23 points from Paola Barbosa, the Gladiators are still looking for their seventh win of the season.

A 10-point differential in the second quarter in favor of Whitney Tech proved to be costly, but Barbosa did not get much help, especially on the offensive end.

The senior was the lone Goodwin Tech player to reach double figures. Nyssa Foster DeOro finished second on the team with eight points, while Tanija Russell contributed six.

The Owls, meanwhile had two players reach double-digit point totals. Gvanni Athinson scored a team-high 15 points with Shaena Boles adding 13.

BOYS BASKETBALL

Goodwin Tech 78, Ellis Tech 33: It was another game and another easy win for the Gladiators.

Francisco Santiago scored a game-high 19 points for Goodwin Tech. But he was just one of four Gladiator players to finish in double figures.

Xavier Cartagena scored 16 points, while Josh Peeples and Luis Aguiar added 15 apiece.

“Overall, I felt we played a good basketball game,” Goodwin Tech head coach Reuben Charles said. “We were able to execute perfectly.”

None of Ellis Tech’s players reached double figures. Brennan Young was the Golden Eagles’ leading scorer with nine points.

The Gladiators now move to 13-1 on the season.

WRESTLING

New Britain 38, Farmington 33: The Hurricanes won a thriller on senior night on Wednesday.

Needing to win the final two matches to secure the comeback win, New Britain’s Izaiah Medina got the first, pinning Muhil Seravana in the 220-pound match. That brought the score 33-22 Indians with one match left.

The heavyweight division went the same way for the Hurricanes - with a pin. New Britain’s Juliano Morales pinned Farmington’s Nick Greco giving the Hurricanes the 38-33 decision.

Also winning for the New Britain were Isahus Maldonado, Michael Martinez, Elijah Watson, Raul Mateo, Kevin Carrasquillo and Jovany Rodriguez.

The victory improved the Hurricanes to 18-8 on the season and 4-1 in conference matches.
