Area boys golf teams have solid showings in CCC Championship

NEW BRITAIN - The New Britain area local teams competed in the CCC Boys Tournament Championship at Stanley Golf Course in New Britain Thursday afternoon.

Mike McCarthy (75) led the Berlin boys golf team to a fourth place finish. The Redcoats shot a 320, which tied Conard for fourth place. Other scorers for Berlin included John Downes (79), Matt Czerepuszko (86) and Jacob Lindsay (86).

Southtington was right behind, shooting a 323 for sixth place.Newington landed in 19th place shooting a 378 as a team.

New Britain came in 22nd out of 26 team, tallying a 421 collectively. Tim Carrier was the team’s best golfer with a round of 95. Johnny Morell, Arthur Bell and Dylan Washington capped off the Hurricanes effort with scores of 103, 107 and 116, respectively. Plainville rounded out the area teams, shooting a 428 for 23rd place.

The winner of the tournament was Avon with an impressive score of 306.
