BRISTOL - Joe Silva rounded the bases and high-fived Ryan Sullivan as he touched home plate. He then went over to the East Division’s dugout and celebrated some more.

Silva homered off Worcester Bravehearts right-hander Brian Auerbach (0-1) in the top of the fourth inning, clearing the first pitch of his at-bat right over the Babe Ruth sign in right field as the East Division beat the West Division 2-0 in FCBL’s All-Star Game Tuesday night at Muzzy Field.

Outside of Silva’s home run, it was a game where the pitching dominated most of the night. Both teams combined for just nine hits - East with six and the West with four - and 14 strikeouts. There was only one walk issued over the nine innings.

The East managed to put five runners in scoring position, while the West had just four, all with two outs.

Bristol Blues outfielder and Newington native Ben Maycock had the best game at the plate for the West. Out of the team’s three hits, Maycock collected two of them in his two at-bats.

Mike McCaffrey of the Brockton Rox earned the win for the East with a perfect third. His teammate Zack Martin got the start, allowing a base hit.

Billy Devito of the Bravehearts got the start for the West. The right-hander retired the top half of the first in order thanks to an inning-ending double play.

Bristol native and Blues right-hander Tommy Curtin worked the ninth for the West.

He got himself out of a small jam, thanks in part to an over-the-shoulder, diving catch by shortstop and Blues teammate Jake Frasca.

Chris Pennell of the North Shore Navigators came in close out the game for the East. He got the Blues’ Mitch Guilmette to end the game on a weak pop up to third in foul territory.
