NASHUA, N.H. - The Bristol Blues had played just one game over the last nine days thanks to a combination of bad weather and the All-Star Break entering Thursday night’s game.

But the extended time off didn’t seem to cause any kind of rust for the Blues.

Jayson Gonzalez and Jeff Shanfeldt each drove in two runs, while Michael Genaro provided eight quality innings from the mound as Bristol beat the Nashua Silver Knights 6-1 in its first game back from the break.

While the neither team was able to generate much through the early portion of the night, the Blues were able to break through with in the fifth with a five-run inning.

Chris Davis singled home Mark Tumosa for the game’s first run. Gonzalez soon followed with a two-RBI double, allowing David and Mitch Guilmette to touch home plate.

A single by Shanfeldt capped off the inning with two more runs as Gonzalez and Blaylock scored.

After the Silver Knights added a run of their own in the bottom of the frame, the Blues quickly made up for it with an insurance run in the top of the sixth as Logan Green scored an unearned run.

Genaro, meanwhile, held the Nashua bats at bay.

The left-hander allowed just six hits and struck out six over his time on the mound.
