BRISTOL - The Bristol Blues split a doubleheader at Muzzy Field against the Pittsfield Suns on Sunday afternoon, winning the first game - the completion of a game suspended on June 30 - 4-2, but falling in the regularly-scheduled nightcap, 2-0.
The first game resumed with the Blues ahead 3-0 in the top of the third inning. Takoda Sitar started on the mound for Bristol in the top of the third after Brandon Fox and Keith Grant each pitched an inning on June 30.
Mitch Guilmette tripled in the bottom of the fourth and scored on a sacrifice fly from Josh Zbierski for a 4-0 Blues lead, but that turned out to be the only run Bristol would score on Sunday.
Sitar helped make the lead stand up, though, going a season-high 5 2/3 innings pitched and recording nine strikeouts. Jacob Wallace pitched the final 1 1/3 innings for the save.
In the second game, a seven-inning contest, the Blues never had a lead to hold on to.
Brandon Fox allowed no earned runs in a season-high five innings for the Blues, while pitcher Lizandro Cruz made his season debut with Bristol in relief.
