BRISTOL - The Bristol Blues took an early 7-0 lead and cruised to a 10-2 victory over the Pittsfield Suns on Thursday night at Muzzy Field, putting them one step closer to clinching a playoff berth.

The Blues took a 3-0 lead after the second inning with a three-run rally.

Jayson Gonzalez (4-for-4, 3 runs, 2 RBI) doubled to lead off the frame, but held up and only made it to third as Nick Roy followed with another double. After a fly out, Max Goione hit an RBI single for a 1-0 lead and Jeff Shanfeldt followed with a two-run single.

Bristol increased its advantage to 7-0 with a four-run third inning.

Chris Davis walked to start the rally and stole second base before Jake Frasca hit an RBI single. Then Gonzalez belted a double to make to 5-0, Roy walked and Mitch Williams singled to load the bases. Goione was hit by a pitch to force in a run and Mark Tumosa hit a one-out sacrifice fly to make it 7-0.

Starter Michael Genaro went three innings for the Blues, and though they were never in danger during the game, they went on to use six relievers for an inning each after taking the 7-0 lead, with four of those relievers throwing hitless innings.
