NEW BRITAIN - The Central Connecticut State baseball team already made it past its first test earlier in the week and tonight, it begins its second.

The Blue Devils will face sixth-seeded TCU in Fort Worth, Texas, with the first pitch slated for 9 p.m.

CCSU (36-20) earned an automatic berth into the NCAA Tournament after winning the Northeast Conference Tournament with a 6-3 victory over Sacred Heart on Sunday. This will be the Blue Devils’ fifth NCAA Tournament and first since 2010.

The Horned Frogs, meanwhile, are 42-16 overall. This will be TCU’s 15th trip to the regionals, including hosing each of the past four seasons. The Horned Frogs boast 10 players who earned All-Big 12 honors, including Evan Skoug, the Big 12 Co-Player of the Year.

The University of Virginia (42-14) is the second seed in the regional, while Dallas Baptist (40-19) is seeded third. The Cavaliers and Patriots will open regional action later in the day at 4 p.m.

The tournament is double elimination format.
