NEW BRITAIN - Kiana Patterson and Andi Lydon each had 15 points for the CCSU women’s basketball team but the Blue Devils dropped their fourth straight non-conference game to begin the season on Monday night with the 72-60 loss to Albany.

Lydon also chipped in her second double-double as she added a game-high 10 rebounds to go with five assists.

The Great Danes started the game strong on an 11-2 run but CCSU worked its way back into the game with a five-point run following and with under three minutes to go in the first half the Blue Devils went on an 8-4 run which led to the 39-34 Albany lead at the half.

In the third quarter, neither team could get much offensive production going as CCSU shot just 23.1 percent from the field while the Great Danes were 33 percent from the field but scored double digits in the period with 14 points compared to the nine points scored by the Blue Devils.

With the 14-9 advantage in the third quarter, CCSU trailed 53-43 going into the fourth quarter.

Rebounding in the game was a big factor as Albany held a 41-27 advantage in the rebounding column.

Tiana-Jo Carter led the way for the Great Danes with eight rebounds in the contest and also scored 13 points in the game.

Jessica Frequiere had 26 of the 72 points that Albany scored in the contest.

The Blue Devils fell to 0-4 on the young season with the loss and will stay at home to host Morgan State on Wednesday, Nov. 29 at 7:00 p.m.
