NEW BRITAIN - While the CCSU men’s basketball team is far from the heart of its schedule when Northeast Conference play begins Dec. 8, it was able to salvage an early non-conference contest that was in jeopardy.

The Blue Devils will play Army in Bubbleville at Mohegan Sun on Friday at 2 p.m. for their second game of the season. They were originally scheduled to face the University of Maine until someone in the Blackbears program tested positive for the coronavirus upon arriving in Uncasville.

CCSU opened its season Wednesday night on the road against UConn before their matchup with Black Knights on Friday. The team was notified of Maine’s forfeiture Tuesday and told the event staff would look for a last minute replacement so the Blue Devils could still have a second game.

Army is coming off of a 15-15 season in 2019-20 that ended with a quarterfinal berth in the Patriot League Tournament. The Black Knights started their season Wednesday night against the United States Merchant Marine Academy.
