NEW BRITAIN - The Central Connecticut State women’s basketball team will have to wait to resume its season.

On Wednesday, the university’s athletic department announced the Blue Devils have paused all team activities following positive covid-19 test results with the team’s “tier-1 personnel,” which consists of student-athletes, coaches, team athletic trainers and managers.

This is the second time CCSU has had to pause team activities this season. The Blue Devils shut things down at the end of November due to a positive coronavirus test within the program, which prevented them from playing a non-conference schedule.

CCSU was scheduled to resume its season with a home series against Bryant on Thursday and Friday. Both of those games, as well as a home matchup against Sacred Heart on Thursday, Jan. 14, have been postponed and will be rescheduled for a later date.

The Blue Devils have been on winter break since Dec. 21 and have not played a game since Dec. 20, a 77-56 win over Fairleigh Dickinson. CCSU is currently 2-2, with all four of its games coming in conference play, this season.

The Blue Devils are now set to start playing again on Jan. 23 at Mount St. Mary’s.
