NEW BRITAIN - The Central Connecticut State women’s basketball schedule added another pair of postponements, but once again it is not because of anyone in New Britain.
The Blue Devils home series against St. Francis University, originally scheduled for Jan. 28 and 29 will now be played Feb. 23 and 24 because St. Francis decided to suspend all team activities “out of an abundance of caution following a positive test result for covid-19 among Tier 1 personnel of a recent opponent,” according to the report on the CCSU athletics website on Wednesday. Tier 1 personnel consists of student-athletes, coaches, team athletic trainers and managers.
The team also moved up its two games against Sacred Heart from Feb. 4 and 6 to Jan. 28 and 30 in order to space out the schedule more.
Due to winter break and the team’s second positive coronavirus test of the season, CCSU’s game against Mount St. Mary’s on Saturday will be the Blue Devils’ first contest since Dec. 20. They are 2-2 on the season and presently have no games on the schedule for a week and a half after the games against Sacred Heart. CCSU will play nine games in February after playing just four games each in December and January.Â
