CCSU women's basketball cancel game against Sacred Heart

Another cancelation has struck Central Connecticut’s basketball programs as the Blue Devil women (2-8, 0-1 NEC) have canceled its game against Sacred Heart (4-4, 3-0 NEC) this week.

Thursday’s game has been canceled due to COVID protocols, the school annoucned Wednesday. The game has been deemed a forfeit, with Central Connecticut receiving a Northeast Conference loss. Sacred Heart will move to 4-0 in conference play once Thursday comes while CCSU will move to 0-2.

It is the second forfeit to strike both CCSU and Sacred Heart’s season. Both of CCSU’s forfeits have come in back-to-back scheduled games, with the first coming Dec. 31 in a forfeit win against St. Francis of Brooklyn.

The Blue Devil women are next scheduled to play against Merrimack this Saturday, on the road at 2 p.m. A decision to play the game will be made prior to the game, pending COVID protocols.
